In plain language
Mathentik is a small operation in Montréal that makes custom math workbooks for children. We collect only what we need to make your child's workbook and operate the business. We don't sell data, ever.
What we collect
When you reserve an adventure for your child, we collect:
From you (the parent)
- Your name and email address (entered at checkout via Stripe)
- Your billing information (handled by Stripe; we don't see your full card details)
About your child
- First name or nickname only (no full names)
- Age and grade level
- Interests, themes they enjoy, math skills you'd like us to focus on
- Any context you share to help us build their workbook
We do not collect: full names of children, addresses, photos, school names, or anything not needed to write the workbook.
How we collect it
- Stripe handles your payment and captures your email. Stripe is a US-based company; data is processed under their privacy policy and applicable cross-border data agreements.
- Tally runs our intake form. Tally is based in Belgium and stores form responses on encrypted servers in the European Union under GDPR rules.
- Microsoft 365 powers our email at hello@mathentik.com. Microsoft stores email data on regional servers including Canada when available.
How we use it
We use the information you provide solely to:
- Build your child's custom workbook
- Email you to confirm delivery, request feedback, or follow up on your order
- Process payments and issue refunds
We will never sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing, or use it for purposes beyond what you've signed up for.
Cookies and tracking
This website uses:
- Meta Pixel to measure ad performance. This sends anonymized data about your visit (page URL, timestamp, IP address) to Meta. Meta may use this data to show you Mathentik ads and to help us understand which ads work. You can opt out via your Facebook ad settings or by enabling Do Not Track in your browser.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics, privacy-focused and cookieless, for basic traffic information. Cloudflare does not track individuals or use cookies for this product.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers beyond what's listed above.
How long we keep your data
- Customer order records (Stripe transactions, email correspondence): retained for 7 years to comply with Canadian tax and bookkeeping rules.
- Tally form submissions (child's interests, math focus, etc.): deleted 90 days after workbook delivery.
- Cookies and Meta Pixel data: managed by those services per their retention rules.
Your rights
Under Quebec Law 25, Canada's PIPEDA, and GDPR if you are in the EU, you can:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request corrections to inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw your consent to future data use
Email hello@mathentik.com with your request. We respond within 30 days.
Children's data
Mathentik creates workbooks for children aged 5 to 14, but the parent or guardian is the one who signs up and provides information. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. We only ask for a first name or nickname so the workbook can be personalized.
Cross-border data
Some of our service providers process data outside Canada (Tally in the European Union, Stripe and Meta in the United States). By using Mathentik, you consent to this transfer. All providers are bound by their own privacy regulations (GDPR, EU-US Data Privacy Framework) and data protection agreements with us.
